Hi everyone,

Because Granddaddy started the wedding on time, Uncle Sam and Mama Sarah arrived too late for him to give his niece away.

So, as Daddy and Mama stood before the preacher in Granddaddy’s front yard, the large festive crowd became silent. The preacher asked, “Who giveth this woman in marriage to Adam Shaw, Jr.?” Granddaddy, dressed in a dark suit, holding Mama’s elbow delicately, answered, “I do.” Then he stepped back and watched his son marry his true love. Granddaddy had given Annie Bell to be the wife of his son, Adam. As for me, that is unprecedented. However, Uncle Sam and Mama Sarah arrived after Mama and Daddy had exchanged vows. I do not know whether they were intentionally late or whether her Uncle Sam was expecting to give Annie Bell, his niece, away.

The wedding will be continued next time.
