Hi everyone,

Later, Daddy told me he didn’t change his name because he was tired of Granddaddy “messing” with his name and did not want him to have any more authority over it.

Granddaddy and Grand Mama had given eleven of their children names that Daddy considered correct, however, as you recall, he did not like Granddaddy giving him the nickname Boy.

Hence, I am the Fourth Generation Shaw family member with the wrong surname, but I am satisfied because my Boykin kinsmen have never mentioned the difference between our names, and they always treat each other with mutual love.
