Hi everyone,

Mama was dressed up for this happy occasion.

Dressed in her long vertical-striped pale green hostess dress, she was glad to see us all. She had set the picnic table on her front lawn and lots of chairs with nice arm rests, which she already had, on her long front porch. While waiting for the guests, Mama and Daddy walked around on the lawn together, sometime holding hands, in our family’s presence.

The guests began arriving and the sunny day was lighted up with greetings, meetings, talking, laughter, and plates full of a complete dinner meal. Everyone ate, laughed, and talked, but Daddy was the star. When guests arrived, they asked, where is “Mr. Adam Shaw?” Everyone wanted to see Mama’s first husband and my daddy. Though for a long time, we had told them I was a child of married parents, Daddy’s visit validated me in Sunbury, where everyone already loved me, as “First Daughter.” From the time of my arrival in Sunbury, the good folks showed me love, and the more education I received, the more their love grew and, everywhere, men and women said, “Annie Lee, come here and let me hug and kiss you, and they did. The memory of my home up north with people did show jealousy of me, even though they had children, will always be cherished. Now, let us turn back to the reunion. As guest of honor, Daddy had never been happier, other than we are Mama married in a large wedding in Granddaddy’s front yard, and he was thankful to Mama and me for deciding to have the family reunion up north, after he expressed his desire to visit. The man we both loved, laughed, talked, smiled, and ate the whole time. Without doubt, he knew that Mama and I still loved him, in the depth of our hearts, and he showed us that it was mutual, but everyone remained morally upright.

For certain, this was one of my happiest days.
