Hi everyone,

While Bennie, Trina, and I cooked, Aunts Camilla and Vernell sat in chaise lounge chairs on our long screened-in back porch with green indoor-outdoor carpet They talked and relaxed. Daddy and Uncles Charlie, Jack, and Dollar Bill sat in our celery green-carpeted family room with customized glass-enclosed fireplace. When I would look in the family room, Daddy looked like a happy man, smoked, talked, and laughed. Even though we did not permit smoking in the house, we didn’t say anything. Daddy was a smart and considerate man. It figures that he was careful, while smoking, and put the ashes in the ashtray that we provided for him. None fell on the carpet.

I had great joy in seeing my daddy look so happy and joyful in my home. Believe me, if we want to be happy, we can get a bucket full because we are good to our parents. Let each of us resolve to take care of their needs, hug them tightly, speak kindly to them, visit them often, send them small gifts that come in handy for them, never have a cross-word with them, show them love all the time, and enjoy their company and let them enjoy yours. Also, remember, that we can make our parents super happy, too, by our personal clean behavior and the friends we choose, the dates we choose, and the spouses we marry. Yes, making our parents, as happy as we can, brings God’s blessings on us, and we feel loved and embraced, even when we are alone, because we are loved by our parents, for we perpetually bring them happiness.
