Hi everyone,
Gabrielle Diamanta Jones, as you recall, is a Sixth Generation Shaw family member.
Starting, in 1992, I had the experience of being a grandmother twice a year, even though I lived in Virginia Beach, she lives in Atlanta. That was an enjoyable time.
One of the first things I did was to take her to see my daddy, and he was happy to see her. However, Gabrielle, born in 1991, was too young to remember him.
Age four through age twelve, we purchased a round-trip airline ticket from Atlanta to Norfolk International Airport for Gabrielle to visit us. At the beginning, she was too young to fly, alone, and a flight attendant would escort her to a Norfolk airport waiting room, where we were standing to see her come up the gang plank. When Gabrielle, loaded down with a stuffed backpack and an arm full of belongings, including her stuffed Honey Bear that she carried everywhere, spotted us in the waiting crowd, she started smiling and waving. When we met, she and I hugged with gusto and she melted in Bennie’s arms, overflowing with smiles in her Granddaddy Bennie’s arms, and for all of us, those were memorable meetings at the Norfolk International Airport.
Summertime with Gabrielle was always a good time for Bennie and me to experience the fun of being grandparents.
