Hi everyone,

Of the nine summers Gabrielle visited us without her mother, Trina, we often took Gabrielle out of town for a three- to five-day sightseeing vacation.

Planning for our mini-vacations was fun. We baked two tins of chocolate chip cookies, roasted shelled- peanuts and stowed them in a large tin, shopped for bottled water and sodas for the cooler, bought loaf of bread, and I fried golden brown chicken. When we completed our preparations for the trip, Bennie packed all the food and soft drinks in the back seat with Gabrielle.

We had great fun talking, laughing, eating, and watching the scenery and, for sure, car trips to our vacation locations were as much fun as the vacations. It was a warm family affair car ride.
